Preparations for the European Football Fans’ Congress (#EFFC2017) have been taken to the next stage.
Staff from the Coordinating Office of Football Supporters Europe (FSE) travelled to Belgium at the end of November in order to check venues and accommodation.
During this site visit they visited the Ghelamco Arena in Gent, as well as the Daknamstadion in Lokeren and several hotels in Gent. Furthermore they met the local organising groups from the Supportersfederation Gent and Front282 Lokeren, the SLOs of both teams, as well as representatives from the national fans organisation Belgian Supporters.
FSE representatives chose to travel to Belgium on the day of the cup match between the neighbouring cities of Gent and Lokeren in order to meet all stakeholders at once.
Ronan Evain, CEO of FSE said: „We knew in advance that we would have to expect rivalry between both sets of supporters, but when meeting in Gent, they have proven their capacity to unite for the aim of organizing an EFFC2017 to remember. We are looking forward to preparing our congress with them.“
