FSE STATEMENT ON EUROPA LEAGUE KICK-OFF TIMES

After watching their team lose 1-0 to FC BATE Borisov in Belarus last week, Arsenal fans are now faced with the prospect of a 5:55pm kick-off for the return leg at the Emirates (London).

Such an early start means that many fans will find it difficult, if not impossible, to attend the game due to work and other commitments. This is, of course, a problem in and of itself, but it is compounded by the fact that season ticket holders have already been charged for the fixture.

LA LIGA IN AMERICA: WE, THE FANS…

Since last September, La Liga and its business partner Relevent have been working on a unilateral plan to play competitive games in the USA.

Facing significant opposition from impacted parties and football institutions, the joint venture recently launched a petition claiming to represent the views of the Northern American football fans and the greater interests of the Beautiful Game in the USA.

UEFA EURO 2024: FSE EXPECTS THE DFB TO FULFILL ITS HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITMENTS AND TAKE FANS INTERESTS INTO ACCOUNT

On 27 September, UEFA President Alexander Čeferin announced the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee to select the bid presented by the German Football Association (DFB) to host the EURO 2024. It was opposed to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). FSE welcomes the decision and expects the DFB to fulfill its commitments.

#FairPriceForAwayFans: STATEMENT ON EXCESSIVE PRICING FOR AWAY FANS AT EUROPEAN CUP COMPETITIONS

This season has seen a dramatic rise in ticket prices for away fans, culminating with FC Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain fans being charged 100 Euros in the group stage for their fixtures against Anderlecht.

Manchester United fans, meanwhile, have been charged the same for their upcoming fixture at Seville.

CLOSING CONFERENCE OF THE ERASMUS + PROJECT “QUEERING FOOTBALL”

Over 70 participants from 17 countries gathered in Ljubljana (Slovenia) to discuss homophobia, prejudices and violence against LGBTIQs in the context of football and upcoming Mega Sport Events.

In Mid-November, FSE joined its partners in the “Queering football” Erasmus + project for the European Networking Conference “QUEERING FOOTBALL – Addressing Homophobia at Mega Sport Events” at the Faculty of Sport of the University of Ljubljana. 17 countries and 3 continents were represented by over 70 participants – including fans, activists, students, journalists, volunteers, practitioners, researchers, and representatives of NGO’s, sporting and public bodies, such as UEFA.
