Football Supporters Europe (FSE) and supporters’ organisations from across the continent have long campaigned for Uefa to lift its outdated ban on standing at football stadia through our continent-wide ‘Europe Wants to Stand’ campaign.
This sustained lobbying, as well as constructive meetings with Uefa officials, resulted in a feasibility study and the decision to approve the use of safe standing facilities in three countries for the upcoming 2022-23 season. As a result, clubs will be permitted, in line with domestic regulations, to use standing terraces for all Uefa club competition games in France, Germany, and England in the coming weeks. FSE welcomes this decision as a logical and positive step towards a full revaluation of Uefa’s all-seater policy.
